Rise of the Abomination In Indian Cinema

There was a Time when the larger audiences would throw the movies like Pushpa right where they belong, in a big stinking garbage box, but there seems to be an abyss, a chasm in the intellect of the audience and among the general society, there choices are reflecting that some thing has gone really haywire, we are turning rapidly into a society that embraces mindless violence as a cultural reality and rejects the quality and creativity for which the Indian film industry was known once.

I watched a brilliant movie today Shabash Mithu, the biopic on the ace cricketer Mithali Raj, the movie was bang on target on all the parameters, acting, screenplay, writing, every thing was spot on, yet the movie made one of the poorest openings ever and it will soon be removed from the theatres. This isn’t the only only good movie that got the drubbing in recent times, be it Jersey, Runway 34, all good movies all flopped.

The common aspect among all the resent hits is savage violence sold like a hot cake across the length and width of the country, this is concerning, acceptance of such shameless violence which was contemptible few months back, is now celebrated by the likes of Virat Kohli.

Whats happening on the silver screen is a symptom, the embrace of violence by any society is like the beginning of a cancer which inadvertently annihilate it self. We are drifting away from the ethos of compassion and cohesiveness and we are loosing the very core of existence.

Success of movies like Pushpa, KGF, Vikram etc and the drubbing of good family meaningful movies like Mithu are like the first appearance of ugly mole on a flawless body

Your Choice

There was a man named Thomas, every evening he would come drunk, stinking and bleeding from the wounds he got from the bouts he started,  he was unemployable, had no friends, unfortunately he had a wife Jenny (Unfortunate for her) and 4 kids, his wife would work as domestic help in the city, she would earn meagre wages that could barely feed her and her kids, she would hide the money from her husband.

Every evening her nightmare begins as Thomas walks in and started beating his kids and then his wife, he would succeed in snatching the money from his wife, he would often leave them crying and go to a wine shop and would drink till he is completely out of his senses.

One day when Thomas was lying unconscious under a tree, a sage who was passing by, saw him, the sage had supernatural powers, he placed his palm on the forehead of the man and closed his eyes, the sage could see his entire life under his closed eyelids.

The sage pressed his palm on Thomas’s forehead, but with force this time, a shock went through Thomas’s body, as if some one lifted him high in the air and then smashed him back on the ground, he was awake, probably after many years, and saw the sage standing in front of him, he got up abruptly he was shocked to see his body still lying under the tree, “Am I dead” he asked “no, but you will, very soon, let me show you what you did in your life, and where you will go from here” the sage waved his hand and Thomas saw his life started unfolding in front of him like a movie, he saw his parents, they were so happy when he was born, his first day at school, the first time he tested alcohol with his friends, how he was thrown out of his school, his father tried so hard to make him quit drinking, but he chose to run away instead, only to came back few days later, his marriage, death of his father and mother few years later, he saw his first child being born, he was so happy, that day he decided to quit drinking, but he could only control the urge for couple of days, he saw his kids crying, his wife working so hard and taking care of the house and the kids, tears started flowing from his eyes, but it was all past, and then the story came to the present time.

He saw himself getting up, he faltered his way back to his house, he saw how his family is scared to see him, his wife was in tears and begged him not to ask for money as there youngest child was not well, and has to be shown to a doctor, but he didn’t budged, he started yelling and shouting again, he pushed his wife and snatched her purse, opened it and took all the money inside it, he then left the house walking towards the wine shop, he could barely walk but he was walking anyway, as he reached the crossroad, he heard a screeching sound, he turned around and saw an uncontrolled truck rushing towards him, he was scared and heavily intoxicated, he couldn’t move an inch and the truck smashed his frail body, seconds later he was dead.

His neighbours rushed to inform her wife about the accident, instead of sorrow, he saw a sense of relief on her face, his kids were silent they were too young to react, but he could sense that they were not going to miss him either, a moment later the wife regained her composure and said “Sir my child is not well, I can’t leave him, can you please inform the municipal corporation officials to arrange for his cremation, as I don’t have money to cremate him, her neighbour knew what kind of a person her husband was, they nodded and left the family alone.

His family was relieved as there tormentor was no more, “this will be your future if you follow the current course of action, “Choice is Yours”, said the sage, Thomas was awestruck, he looked at his right, in the direction of the voice, but there was no one, the sage had disappeared.

He woke up, still intoxicated, he sat under the tree, his whole body was aching in pain, he waited for hours under the tree, he cried for hours and then mustered courage to get up on his feet and started walking towards his home, as he reached his home he knocked the doors softly, Jenny opened the door and surprised to see Thomas, as he would usually bang the doors while abusing her, she was surprised to see a calm Thomas, still stinking and dirty but calm, his eyes lowered as if burdened by guilt, after silence of a few moments, he looked at Jenny and asked “how is Samantha” there youngest daughter, Jenny couldn’t believe her eyes, for the first time in many years, Thomas as asked for his kids, Jenny started sobbing and said “she is burning in fever” I am taking her to a doctor”, she said in a very heavy voice, Thomas was controlling his tears as he know now that what he saw wasn’t a dream, “give me a moment, I am coming with you” he said and rushed to the bathroom, he cleaned himself, changed his clothes and was at the door in 10 minutes.

Jenny couldn’t believe what she was seeing, they went to a doctor and brought medicines for Samantha, to their relief she was suffering from seasonal throat infection and she will be fine in couple of days. As they came back, Jenny and kids were still in a state of awe to see Thomas’s transformation, they had a quiet dinner and all of them except Thomas slept peacefully.

Next morning, when Jenny woke up, she saw Thomas sitting besides her with a cup of coffee and cookies, she wanted to ask Thomas the reason for his transformation, but she didn’t had the courage, it was like a dream come true for her, as she sipped coffee, Thomas said “Jenny what I did to you and to our kids, is beyond repentance, I will stay at house and won’t go out for next 30 days, I think I will be able to quit drinking if I control my self for a month, and then I will work while you will stay at home and look after the kids. Jenny couldn’t believe what she was hearing, her eyes filled with tears of Joy, she nodded.

This time Thomas did what he committed Jenny, it was very painful for him especially the first 7 days, he would read Bible for hours, and after a month he was a transformed man, he knew tailoring, so he joined a tailor shop as assistant, he worked very hard and earned respect from his employer who offered him a pay raise, Jenny and the kids were never happier, in the evening Thomas would take his kids and Jenny to the park and he would cook on Sundays, few years lated Thomas bought a shop and started his own tailoring business, he also bought a bigger house for him self and his family.

One day when he was working in his shop all alone, on a new catalogue of designs, he sensed a presence, he was surprised to see the sage standing in front of him, he got up from his chair and ran towards the sage and hugged him, tears flowing from his eyes, uttering only one word “thank you” he then bend on his knees, but the sage lifted him, and looked at him smiling at him, “I still don’t understand what really happened that day, please tell what really happened” he bagged the sage “Thomas all I can tell you is that a I showed you the possible outcome of your current course of journey, it was you who opted a different course, you chose this future” said the sage smiling “always remember Thomas Choice is yours to make” the sage left.

Near death experience can alter the course of life, but is it really essential to have a near death experience to check the course of life and correct it? while all we have to do is sit back and contemplate on our life, basic things like who are we treating our family and our own body.

We have the ability to choose the correct course of action, all we have to do is to muster our inner strength and opt for it, remember “Choice is Ours to make”.

Acres Of Diamond

Hafiz was a farmer in Africa who was happy and content. He was happy because he was content. He was content because he was happy. One day a wise man came and told him about the glory of diamonds and the power that goes along with them. The wise man said, “If you had a diamond the size of your thumb, you could buy your own city. If you had a diamond the size of your fist, you could probably buy your own country.” And then the wise man left.

That night, Hafiz couldn’t sleep. He was unhappy and he was discontented. He was unhappy because he was discontented and discontented because he was unhappy. The next morning Hafiz made arrangements to sell his farm, took care of his family and went off in search of diamonds. He looked all over Africa and couldn’t find any. He looked all through Europe and couldn’t find any. By the time he got to Spain, he was emotionally, physically and financially broke. He was so disheartened that he threw himself into the Barcelona river and committed suicide.

Back home, the person who had bought his farm was watering the camels at the stream that ran through the farm. Across the stream, the rays of the morning sun hit a stone and made it sparkle like a rainbow. He thought the stone would look good in his living room. He picked up the stone and put it on his mantle piece. That afternoon, the wise man came and saw the stone sparkling. He asked, “Is Hafiz back?” The new owner said, “No, why do you ask?” The wise man said, “Because that is a diamond. I recognise one when I see one.” The man said, “No, that’s just a stone I picked up from the stream. Come I’ll show you. There are many more.” They went and picked some samples and sent them for analysis. Sure enough, the stones were diamonds. They found that the farm was indeed covered with acres and acres of diamonds.

What is the moral of this story? There are many morals:

1. When our attitude is right, we realise that we are all walking on acres of diamonds. Opportunities are always under our feet. We don’t have to go anywhere.

2. When we don’t know how to recognize opportunity, it could slap us on our face and we would still not be able to recognize it. All we need to do is to learn to recognize opportunities.

3. People, who don’t know how to recognise opportunities, complain of noise when they knock.

4. Lost opportunities are easier recognised when they are leaving rather than when they are coming.

5. An opportunity only knocks once. The next one may be better or worse, but never the same one. That is why it is so crucial to make the right decision at the right time. A right decision at the wrong time becomes a wrong decision.

6. The grass on the other side always looks greener. There are two dimensions to the greener grass: a. It may be possible that the other farmer is taking better care of his grass and it is actually greener. b. Most of the time, however, it is only an illusion. Many times in life, while chasing an illusion, we lose out the opportunity right under our own feet.

7. While we are eyeing the grass on the other side, there are others who are eyeing the grass on our side. They would be happy to trade places with us.

Imperfections & U

Life is always on an incline, it will ether go up or come down my second philosophy about life is that hundred things happen in your life good or bed out of hundred, ninety are of your making, if they are good enjoy them and if they are bad they are your creation learn from them.

It’s story of a woman who with time realises that real happinesses doesn’t lai in success ,money or fame ,it lies in gratitude.

Life is all about trial and error, an attempt leads to a result and then you realise that its ok to be scared, its ok to cry, every thing is ok but giving up should not be an option, that one should always say that quitting is not an option, failure can be an outcome because when you fail you learn and get up and than you fail again and again you get up and keep going that’s what make us the humans strong, failure is an option should be a option but giving up isn’t. We say these things are mine, we seek perfection, we want everything’s should be perfect ,perfect life, career, relationship, but in the real world nothing is perfect, in the world we live is perfectly imperfect and that is perfectly all right, you should understand that you have been sent here not to become a perfect person but to be a contained person, a happy person .People can tell you how to look perfect, even though they are fighting there inner fears, there inner acknowledgement of there sheer imperfection, only the perfect eyes can see that you might not look perfect but your soul is perfect.

You don’t have to change your self for others listen to your heart you don’t have to look good to other people, you don’t have to be perfect if your soul is perfect.

Accept yourself the way you are, be kind to yourself, failures should only makes you stronger so never give up, success is your right. Real happiness don’t lie in money .Real happiness lies in gratitude so be grateful to be alive and live every moment of it.

Coronavirus: 5 Indian sectors that need urgent help as virus ravages economy

Some of the strongest economies around the globe are struggling to cope with the situation in the wake of an unprecedented demand shock and a shutdown of all key economic activities that drive growth. Many Indian sectors are now in critical need of a relief package. Read on.

HIGHLIGHTS

  1. Many Indian sectors affected by Covid-19 lockdown are in need of urgent relief

2) A bulk of the job losses have been reported from critically affected sectors

3) The overall impact of Covid-19 is now being felt by most sectors in the country

The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted economies around the world like no other event that experts can recollect since the Great Depression.

Some of the strongest economies around the globe are struggling to cope with the situation in the wake of an unprecedented demand shock and a shutdown of all key economic activities that drive growth.

In the United States, the world’s most powerful economy, a massive number of jobs losses have been reported due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The situation is so bad that US President Donald Trump on Thursday said the “US has been attacked and Covid-19 is not just any flu”.

India, too, has been hit hard. Global rating agency today slashed India’s GDP projection for FY21 to 0.8 per cent. The Covid-19 pandemic has been a huge blow to India, especially since many sectors were already facing a crisis when the virus storm hit.

The virus not only accelerated the crisis but also ended the good run that some sectors were enjoying. Adding to the worries in a steep demand shock that experts say classified as a long-term worry, citing uncertainty in the post-pandemic landscape.

If not all, key sectors that make up a larger portion of India’s GDP have been taken completely or partially out of action. Reports of job losses, unpaid leaves and other concerns are being reported on a daily basis from such sectors.

CMIE data shows how unemployment in India spiked in the month of April. The situation is expected to worsen if the situation shows no improvement over the next few months.

Many sectors have appealed the government to ease some restrictions so they can at least resume business or grant some relief so they can at least pay wages to their employees.

Here are 5 sectors in need of urgent help and cooperation from other sectors better position amid the crisis:

MSME Sector

The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are literally the backbone of all Indian sectors and often engaged in manufacturing and export activities — two key drivers of the Indian economy.

Today, almost all MSMEs are out of action due to the lockdown, chocking all production activities at major firms across sectors. There are several reports that indicate how MSMEs are reeling under crisis and have no money to pay their employees.

From leaders to experts and industry bodies, everyone has appealed the government to increase its relief package for the MSME sector, which contributes to over 30 per cent of India’s GDP.

It is worth mentioning that a majority of the small units may have to shut shop if they do not get a relief package soon. The government is planning to release Rs 20,000 crore relief package, divided into two funds, for helping MSMEs.

Describing the risks MSMEs face, the director of a firm that provides integrated services for MSMEs told India today.in about the current sector outlook and the challenges.

Rajesh Gupta, Co-founder and Director, BUSY Infotech, said, “The world is going through something unprecedented. Nearly a third of the globe is in lockdown. Due to this lack of trade and shrinking sales, MSME’s are feeling the burden of loans, repayments, GST filings, etc”

“Even after getting support from the government, many of them are almost on the verge of losing their control over losses and unable to generate revenues as well and fighting for their survival. It will be very important for the government to take initiatives and announce more relief packages for MSME’s and measures.”

Saying that MSMEs will enter “uncharted territory” after the lockdown ends, he urged the government to provide cash infusions that allow MSMEs to give workers jobs and buy raw materials.

“The government will also need to increase the insolvency limit for SMEs and MSMEs to 1 crore from 1 lakh. Most businesses today are not earning revenues; hence they cannot meet their obligations to creditors,” Gupta added.

Tourism and Hospitality Sector

MakeMyTrip co-founder and CEO Deep Karla in a recent group interaction told India Today TV that the tourism sector was the first to get disrupted by the impact of Covid-19 and will be the last to see a resumption of activities.

Several reports indicate that the tourism sector will be worst affected due to the virus pandemic.

The government also knows how bad the sector has been hit and acknowledged the same through a press release. A KMPG report from last month had already predicted the Indian tourism and hospitality sector to lose more than over 3.8 crore jobs.

That figure is bound to increase after the lockdown was extended to May 3

An article on the Economic Times said India’s aviation sector may lose as much as Rs 5 lakh crore along with 4-5 crore job losses.

As the outlook of the industry is expected to stay under pressure for at least next few months owing to increased uncertainty, there are many calls for a minimum wage package for affected workers who have been rendered jobless since the lockdown.

Aviation Sector

The crucial aviation sector that connects nations across the world is witnessing a flurry of layoffs and pay cuts. Some workers have been asked to go on forced unpaid leaves by aviation companies, who have been hit equally hard as the tourism and hospitality sector.

Each day, there are reports of global airlines announcing furloughs or layoffs as operational strains deepen in the wake of the lockdown.

CAPA India, a leading travel and tourism consultancy firm, said last in a report last month that global aviation activity has sunk over 66 per cent in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis.

“In India, the decline in aircraft movements has been even more dramatic. With the exception of a handful of cargo and repatriation charter flights, India’s skies are largely empty,” the April 2020 report said.

Since the report was prepared before the lockdown 2.0 was announces, the effects on the sector may have amplified.

It fears that the situation in the post-virus setup would remain pretty much the same for the aviation sector.

“From a point of complete suspension of travel, recovery is likely to be slow. Demand will be suppressed due to economic dislocation; slow or even negative GDP growth; broken supply chains; low consumer confidence; and concerns about lingering outbreaks of COVID-19, especially if travel insurance companies refuse to provide cover for associated medical expenses or travel disruption costs.”

The sector, like the travel and tourism segment, is also in urgent need of financial help to support employees.

Automobile Sector

The automobile sector in India has been forced to stop key manufacturing activity and has led to a sharp drop in production and sales.

With most of the plants shut, big automobile manufacturing companies have announced pay cuts and are waiting for a decision on resumption of dealerships.

However, RC Bhargava, an industry veteran and Maruti Suzuki Chairman, told India Today TV how the automobile sector is interlinked with many other small sectors that manufacture key parts, which are then used for manufacturing vehicle components.

Therefore, Bhargava like many others from the industry is urging the government to at least open a few dealerships to resume businesses.

He also said that a package for the industry, especially for the ones at the bottom of the manufacturing chain, is necessary.

Real Estate Sector

Finally, the real estate sector outlook has also suffered immensely due to the lockdown, which was announced to prevent the spread of the deadly Covid-19 virus.

ANAROCK Group in a report last month said housing sales will fall 25-35 per cent while office absorption will fall in the range of 13-30 per cent on a year-on-year basis.

In the long run, such a reduction in commercial and residential property could reset the future of real estate in India, the report added.

Besides, while construction activities have resumed in some areas, there are many hotspots areas in urban areas where key construction projects have been put on hold for several weeks due to the lockdown.

This has led to unemployment among millions of migrant labourers in India, who are engaged primarily in construction activities. Hardly anyone of these labourers, who live on daily wage,

have additional savings to see off the lockdown period.

The government has urged employers to not cut wages or lay off such labourers, reports suggest that companies are left with no choice but to let their workers go due to cash flow issues.

Must read: World’s biggest lockdown may have cost Rs 7-8 lakh crore to Indian economy

The government has announced several relief measures for them, but it is hard to ensure whether the benefits are reaching all.

In such a scenario, the government could announce a job security scheme that covers certain employees, similar to what some countries including the UK have done. While there are the five

sectors that need urgent help, the outlook of other sectors in India are also deteriorating.

A larger job security scheme for those who have been laid off could be the only way to protect affected citizen

The Ghosts of our creation

I never understood as to why we love tormenting ourself, always creating and then being surrounded by the ghosts created by our own sub conscious , constantly feeling guilty of a wrongdoing in our past or hounded by the unfulfilled desires, ghosts hurting us emotionally making us sick all the times, envious to the success of the others and making us scared of our own fictitious future, what good it serve, how dose it make any difference to the universe we live in.

We are consumed by constant fear, fear of loosing our loved once, belongings, livelihood, you name it, the millions of seconds lost in such abominable thoughts, even succumbing to them, planting diseases in our body, killing our intellect our personality and even our soul. We don’t realise that although initially we don’t like these ghosts, but soon they become inextricable parts of our universe, we become them.

We often believe that we are the centre of the universe, it came into existence the day we were born and will be engrossed into oblivion the day we die thus making thou most important and thus fear of death being a constant companion.

I know so many people who made their lives and the lives of their loved once so desolate that all you can feel for them is pity!, one such family of 4, they are two kids husband and wife, since the onset of the COVID 19, the kids have not set the foot out of the house, its been two months now , the lady of the house would petrify if some one in or near the house sneezes or coughs, feel sorry for the kids, only emotion they know is fear.

The Kirana LifeLine

There are about 12 million Kirana stores in India ranging from large stores in cities to tiny village shops servicing a few hundreds. A significant number of these stores sell food and groceries, along with other household supply products.,

The harsh reality is that during lockdown several hurdles were encountered by them. In states like Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Gujarat Kirana owners were not allowed to open there stores or procure essential items, several owners failed to source fresh fruits and vegetables as the local Mandis and agriculture produce market committee markets were shut down.

Panic buying led to faster depleting stocks, and the stores ran out of stock without replenishment, as the supply chains of FMCH companies were disrupted. This led to shortage of essential items and crowding at modern retail outlets that contribute only 8% in the overall food and groceries category. At a time when kiranas were largely relying on wholesalers and cash and carry outlets for there stock renewal, with restrictions imposed on them, neighbourhood stores were unable to replenish, source, stock and self essential items to end customers.

Today as state governments allow both brick and mortar retailers and e-commerce sellers to sell and deliver non essential items and professional services, some state governments are holding back. Needless to say, this graded easing allowing non essential item sales keeping Covid-19 mitigation guidelines intact will help Kiranas, who have so far only been allowed to sell essential items.

This intervention in necessary to open up the economy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s May-12 appeal to go vocal go local fits like a glove into the scheme of things. State governments should liaise with, and aid law and order authorities, to enable the smooth functioning of all stores so that standard operating procedures (SOPs) during these Covid -19 times are compiled.

Kiranas should be allowed to operate normally with the aforementioned checks and balances in place. The free flow of the supply chain is the need of the hour.e

An uncertain Future!

Jobless and hungry are the two words that define the situation of labourers in India, they were the first to loose there livelihood amidst lockdown, they are always the first to loose every thing when times of misfortune or tragedy strikes. Thrown out of there shanties by the owners as they can’t pay the rent anymore, and don’t have the means of earning a days meal, desperate to reach there villages hundreds of miles away, the best way they know are to follow the railway tracks, which brought them to the dazzling lights of the city, the mirage of a good life, away from famine, disease and cast divide many years ago, where they were exploited and struggled all those years to survive, working 12-15 hours a day to earn a days meal, they walk towards there villages bare foot carrying there belongings on there head, children crying incessantly from fear and pain, staring at an uncertain future.

On 9th May, a group of migrants trying to reach their villages slept on the railway tracks at night they were crushed by a goods train and 16 of them lost their lives!!!

Chinese Checkers

The biggest mafia in the world are not the Mexican drug cartels but the communist party of China and the Shem economy created by this vile and evil regime, which boasts of being the second largest in the world, a utopian society created for enslavement and exploitation is a cancer to the humanity, more then a billion people enslaved and forced to work in the industries constructed by and for the loyalists of the regime, under inhuman conditions.

If ideology could kill, communism and its mutation Maoism are perfect killing machine, Mao was personally responsible for killing as many as 70 Million innocent Chinese, Inspired from the communist ideology of the KGB which alway believed in enslaving the minds of the people, China has done it well so far, Annexed Tibet, destroyed its own culture, killed civilians and changed its demography, and the world remained conspicuously silent emboldening the regime which has its eyes set on Taiwan the remnant of the real Chinese civilisation.

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing”

——-Edmund Burke

China has bribed the world by flooding there markets with cheeper goods, from paper napkin to the Tesla cars, from toys to the iPhones, every thing is being manufactured in China, world has outsourced the manufacturing to China and the European and US economies are so hopelessly dependent on the Chinese manufacturing that the only thing they can do is to look elsewhere, liberal world won’t raise its voice against the diabolic deeds of the regime, for instance when the origin of the Nuclear bombs tested by two rogue nations Pakistan and North Korea were traced back to China, world chose to remain silent, and most recently when Corona virus started spreading in China since October-19, the regime chose to remain silent and allowed it to become a global pandemic, also the origin of the Virus is often linked to a Biological weapons lab in Wuhan, European Union prepared a report which was critical of China and was about to publish it, but it was forced to dilute critical observations on China.

Now when the world has lost two hundred thousand innocent lives and millions hospitalised its time to rise and realise the kind of threat this regime poses to the humanity and must fight for the freedom of more then a billion people!
