Ashneer Grover–The Elizabeth Holmes Of India

Shark Tank India season 1, was both Fascinating and Dramatic, the Magnus opus which had Love, Compassion, drama, Sympathy, patriotism etc, it wasn’t just a reality show that deals with entrepreneurs presenting there business ideas to a diverse set of investors, but a spiced up family drama where the wannabe brides were trying to impress the grooms family members, with a tadka of IIM.

Anupam Mittal reminded me more than once of the elderly Tauji, who would be silenced by the other aggressive family members, his tag line “Yaar koi mujhe bhi to bolne do”.

Namita Thaper, the vivacious diva, the Badi Bhabhi of the family, would always ensure to encourage the contestants, but mostly beg herself out of the deals.

Aman Verma : The Chota Devar, the daredevil, who would show his flamboyance more than once in every episode, his tag line “Brand to bana denge hum”.

Ashneer Grover: The evil uncle or chacha, he would abuse at will, would love to demean the bride and her family, he was like the Gulshan Grover of 80s and 90s, his tag line “Sab Dogla Pan hai” and “Band Ker de tera business”.

Vineeta Singh : The chooti bahu (younger daughter in law), too talkative, always smiling and empathetic while bowing out of a deal, she had no particular tag line.

The spiced up reality show caught the imagination of the entire country, business ideas became dinner discussions in the average Indian households, we saw young men and women from marginalised sections of the society, taking  lead in identifying the problems and putting forth the solution, we saw inventors showcasing painless or no needle blood sugar diagnostic machine, we also saw portable ecg machine which has the potential of saving many lives, and we also saw the humble son of a farmer, hailing from the region which has thousands of agrarians committing suicide every year, coming up with a jugad to make the excruciating work of the farmers easy.

The judges became the instant gods among the average youngsters, there success stories, there struggle and there perseverance made them god like for the average Indian youth, Aman Gupta, the candid and rusty Millionaire, Ashneer Grover the biggest shark in the tank, was brutally honest and calculative, Namita Thaper, very charming but had impressive business acumen, Anupam Mittal had tons of experience and he is probably one of the oldest angle investor in the country. The show topped the TRP charts in no time.

And then came the infamous Ashneer Grover call with the hapless Kotak Bank employee, it shocked me like many loyal Sharktank viewers, it exposed the GOD syndrome pathogen Grover was carrying in his head, in fact it was so dominant that it had simply annihilated the persona of the young billionaire, when I heard Ashneer abusing, I felt disgusted and wondered how a shallow man like him came at the helms of one of India’s leading fintech companies!

The infamous but viral phone call then opened the can of worms, exposed the rotting underbelly of one of the leading Fintech companies of the country, what I understood was that Ashneer and his wife were robbing investors of there money to finance there extravagant lifestyle, there luxury cars and abroad vacations, even the makeup stuff of Madhuri Jain was billed to the company.

Ashneer had stark resemblance with Elizabeth Holmes, slightly miniaturised or probably was in the making of it, a person with compromised morality knows no dearth and can sink the entire ecosystem of budding entrepreneurs for his personal gains, luckily he was caught before he could inflict fatal blow on the fragile ecosystem, or even worse getting away with it, creating a narrative of a system where the fraud and embezzlement becomes a norm and acceptable evil.

Once the rot was out in the open, Ashneer was sent on a forced leave, his wife was sacked, It was meteoric fall of the demigod of the startup world of India, it broke many hearts but it raise some very important questions:

  • How can, in todays world, RBI and GOI can leave the fintech companies unchecked and unsupervised?
  • With the tons of customer data, including personal data of the millions of users, is there a mechanism to check the likes of Ashneer from profiting from it? Or should they have an unchecked control over it?
  • How to save the the image of the Ernest entrepreneurs from taking a hit because of the deeds of a bad unicorns like Ashneer grover?

These are some very important questions which need to be answered before the budding and booming atmosphere of Indian Startup world takes a permanent Hit…

Ye Kali Kali Ankhein : 90s Pop Culture Reincarnated to Perfection!!

Kudos to the supremely talented Director “Sidharth SenGupta”, for delivering a perfect entertainer, stellar performances by Aanchal Singh and Saurabh Shukla, and Tahir, well, what he lacked in the looks, he makes up with his acting, but the showstoppers for me are the father and daughter duo of Akhiraj and Purva, and the pervert but funny and pragmatic sidekick Golden.

Indian cinema is no stranger to the femme fatale. From Madhubala in Howrah Bridge to Aishwarya Rai in Khakee, we have seen a wide range of top actresses play the charming seductress to perfection. What the new Netflix show Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein does differently is that it brings the said femme fatale to a small UP town, surrounded by the politics and violence of the hinterland.

An excellent Tahir Raj Bhasin plays the hapless engineer Vikrant, who wants nothing more than to live the life that he has mapped out for himself. After getting an entry-level job at a steel plant, he’ll marry his sweetheart Shikha, and perhaps get an MBA degree some years later. He’ll shoot the breeze with his childhood buddy, a buffoon nicknamed Golden, and most importantly, he’ll stay far away from the shady man his father has spent his entire life working for.

But as fate would have it, Vikrant is sucked into the seedy world of UP politics when he crosses paths with the infatuated daughter of a fearsome local ‘vidhayak’ named Akheraj, played by Saurabh Shukla in proper Ramadhir Singh mode. The woman, Purva, has spent the prime of her youth obsessing over Vikrant, whom she went to school with. She puts in an unsolicited good word for him when his father forces him to interview for a position in Akheraj’s posse of ‘gundas’.

Played by Anchal Singh, Purva is a real femme fatale, straight out of the Manohar Kahaniyan that the show has such a palpable fondness for. The moment he first laid eyes on her as a kid, Vikrant knew she meant trouble. This is perhaps as much as you should know about Purva and her plans; revealing the rest would be spoiling your experience.

If you don’t apply your brain much and if you have an inkling for Mirzapur and Patallok, Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein is a perfect appetiser for you, the end of the season one was very cleaver, as a viewer you are bound to wait for the release of the second season, Vikrant is doomed as we know it, but the way first season has unfolded, its open for every one’s imagination.

UNKNOWN MANIBEN & an ungrateful Country

Maniben Patel was Sardar’s only daughter. When only 16 she switched to Khadi and worked in Gandhi Ashram!
When 17 she put all her gold bangles, earrings Gold Wrist Watch and all ornaments & jewelleries in a bundle of cloth and obtaining her Father’s nod, deposited them in Gandhi Ashram, for the cause of freedom.
All the garments Sardar used to wear after 1921 were woven out of the yarn made by Maniben.
Unlike Nehru’s daughter Indira, Maniben was a freedom fighter, who actively participated in the non-cooperation movement.
In 1928, in the Bardoli Satyagraha she helped out Satyagrahis in Camps.
She was arrested and Jailed in 1930 in the Salt Satyagraha!
Thereafter, she was arrested and jailed on several occasions.
Defying ban in Bardauli, arrested in 1932 again re-arrested for defying ban in Kheda and Sentenced to 15 months imprisonment, for arousing people in villages of Rajkot arrested in 1938!
Gandhiji complimented the girl that he had not seen another daughter like Maniben!
Under Gandhiji’s selective disobedience, Maniben was arrested in 1940 and was released from Belgaum jail in May 1941. When she again wanted to court arrest Gandhiji had prevented this frail girl for ill-health!
She got arrested during Quit India 1942 with
Kasturba Gandhi and released in March 1944 and again re-arrested in May 1944 in Bardauli and was sent to Surat Jail & then to Yervada jail!
She didn’t marry and served her father till
Sardar Died in 1950!

Here is a shocking episode relating to Maniben based on various sources, specifically Dr Kurien’s autobiography: ‘I too had a dream’!

Sardar Patel had no bank balance or property!
Even though he had substantial earnings as a very Successful Lawyer, he gave up everything after plunging into the Freedom movement.
He used to say: THOSE IN POLITICS SHOULD NOT HOLD PROPERTY, AND I HOLD NONE!
(Today Everybody in India may think Sardar a Big Fool)

When Sardar died, he kept nothing for his daughter!
With Sardar no more she had to vacate the house!
With no roof over her head and no money
Maniben had to fend for herself!
Obeying Sardar’s parting instruction, Maniben had gone to Nehru to hand over a bag and a book!
Dutifully, she took an appointment with PM Nehru, she handed over the bag and the book to Nehru in person!
The book was an Account Book!
The bag contained rupees Thirty Five Lakhs! (It was 1950)!
After delivering both to Nehru, she waited a while!
Nehru did not thank her!
Nehru didn’t enquire what she would do!
Nehru didn’t ask where she would stay!
Nehru didn’t ask if she had any money on her!
Nehru didn’t ask if she was in need of any assistance or help!
Nehru didn’t ask, if he could do anything for her!
Nehru, not to speak of sympathy, had shown absolutely no interest in her!
For him, after receiving the huge sum of Rupees 35 lakhs Maniben didn’t exist!

Maniben went back to Ahmedabad to stay with a cousin the rest of her life, forgotten by an Ungrateful Country !

Food Nutrition facts

“Diet is the essential key to all successful healing. Without a proper balanced diet, the effectiveness of herbal treatment is very limited.

 Food as nutrition

My journey on lifestyle change began with understanding how food nutrition impact on body mind complex. Hence this area of food nutrition is very dear to my heart.I could talk forever on this birthday will attempt to stick on what I think is most important to understand.

Today we live in a world where nearly everyone is on one day or another. People talk about Carbs, calories ,fats ,proteins , restrictions, and good foods and bad foods. Diet books are best seller. Cooking shows are  more popular and yet more families are eating day outs. It was not so long ago when humans had an innateability to know what is good for them. People simply knew what to eat and how to prepare it. Thay did not have so much cerebral interpretation of basic  human needs. People naturally ate what was local seasonal available and what gave them proper nutrition for living

Being healthy is not a complicated. The body knows what to eat. It is the brain that makes mistakes. All you need to do is work on building a deep relationship with your body and it will tell you what it needs to function at its highest potential. It took a long time for me to understand the value of this last point. Today I am very much live by this principal. Once you have fostered this deep relationship with your body you can being you trust your body. So how do we foster this relationship.

We first need to accept that we have personal difference in anatomy, metabolism ,composition of  bodily fluids and cell structures . So we have highly individualistic nutrition needs. No no! that is not a go ahead to eat junk food. It is to re-emphasize  the need to build a deep relationship with your body. Our personal tested and preferences nature shape natural shapes and sizes blood type, metabolic rates , and genetic  background influence what foods will and wants nutrition us. One person is food is and other persons poison. That is why fad diets do not work in the long run.   They are not based on the reality that we all have different dietary needs. Yes a little experimenting and awareness is listing to our body will bring us the deep connection.

If you have any doubt on the connection then begin by accepting that your body is highly intelligent. You are hard never misses a beat. Even if you are going through some trauma your heart keeps pumping and your lungs keep breathing. Your body has involved insrincts to keep you alive and well. Just as a tree will always learn to words like humans and animals for that matter no instinctively  what food is good for them.

Do not ignore the signals your bodies are Constantly giving us. Dark circle around the eye is mostly a signal of exhaustion. Your body is telling you to slow down and take a rest. Constipation and bolting are mostly a sign of something you are eating ,  or that the way you are eating  it is in appropriate for you. I encourage you to listen to the signals and not wait until it become unbearable and you have to get on to meditation or in the surgical theatre.

You could keep a food more journal . Developing  that connection with your body you might to join things down things like every time I eat bread my stomach hurt or every time llentil Soup  I feel satisfied and see no negative of the effect. Certain combination of foods will give you gas , certain foods will prevent you from sleeping well, certain food will give you a clear mind.

Do remember that Help has to be a holistic. So when the body is giving you signals it does not have to be food nutrition that need adjustment. It could very very well be some time to do with your exercise routine or your mental state I.e., stress or chemicals in you are in external  environment that needs changing. That is why we are paying attention to getting the basics of lifestyle change read a book . Lifestyle change is what brings us health and happiness.

Now we can focus on the foundation of food nutrition through the actionable steps.  remember that the simple actions have huge impact. I have listed here the most impactful actions

Actionable steps

  1. keep a food – mood journal. This will assist you to foster the connection to your body.
  2. Eat clean food. Meaning eating as neutral as possible. Presticide free if  possible else wash well with a little vinegar. If you know of food has GMO, then if possible, avoid it.cut down on proceed, highly refined (example white flour products) or packed food and chemicalized  food. Apply the 80–20 rule here 80% of the time eat clean and the other 20% eat food that is a little processed. Or maybe for You 90–10 rule work better.you decide build up slowly to words whatever you decide as you will fall of the band wagon.eating clean also promotes your connection with your body
  3. Eat home prepared meals. This way you know what is going into your body.also remember, no food testes like mom’s food. This  is because food cooked with love carries a different energy.
  4. Replace instead of cutting out. Step by steps as you eat more and more clean food, your cravings for those foods that you know are obviously bad for you will begin to fall away from your choice of food.if you start by cutting out bad food items which you have are craving for than you you are craving will increase and once again you will fall of the bandwagon.so focus on including more and more good foods rather than excluding bad foods.
  5. Eat less meat, dairy, sugar and chemicalize, artificial junk foods consume less coffee, alcohol, and tobacco. Yes we have do not want to take out. We would rather replace. However, most people who carry out this action step feel more energised and recover from illness faster.
  6. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. We all have heard this several  time . Start with 2  Apple a day. See what happens to the body with just this simple change. Then slowly increase the variety of foods consumed per day.
  7. Include fresh vegetable juice. non-talking smoothies juice using a juice extractor. Work up to having these 2–3 times a week. I have found these two have huge impact on my health. Carrot juice with some ginger, apple and some lemon ( White rind included ) is my favourite. Give a boost of nutrients quickly into the blood. Keep a gap of half hour after before you consume any other food item.
  8. Experiment with whole grain legumes. E.g. beans, lentils, lupine, peas, and peanuts.
  9. Include fermented Foods. These are foods such as picked vegetables and yoghurt.
  10. Sure dough bread. If you do have bread, then have sour dough  bread that  is made with natural ingredients. It is much easier  on the digestiveSystem .
  11. Increase intake of a variety green foods and especially of leafy green vegetable. For example broccoli , spinach , kale, green herbs, cabbage. Nutritionally Green greens are packed with phytonutrients minerals and their health benefits are huge.
  12. Increase sweet vegetables. Instead of depending on processed  sugar, you can add more naturally sweet flavour to your daily diet and dramatically reduce sweet cravings.
  13. Experiment with protein. Protein is the building block of our body but most of us eat way too much protein. Because of our bio individuality our protein intake varies  from person to person. Hands, best to experiment with source of your protein and amount of protein and notice the impact of your body.
  14. Read ingredients list get into the habit of reading and ingredients List on food item packaging before purchasing. So you can understand what you are putting into your body. The ingredients are always listed in order most quantity to least quantity. So, specially watch out if sugar is the first listed them. Look out mainly for food additives that have been proven to be caused to different diseases if consumed regularly for example, MSG, artificial food colorant, sodium initiate , high- fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners , carrageenan, sodium benzoatetrans pets, artificial flavouring,  Yeast extract .
  15. Avoid refined processed sugars. This is the one and only time we Say avoid.
  16. Clean dairy. If you have dairy then swop  the very form forms where cows are grass fed . Dairy that  is free from antibiotics, growth hormones is animal by products, preservatives and  stabiliser. If you  prone to sinus issue or ear, nose and throat congestion, then this change over could resolve the issue.
  17. Oils for cooking. The oils we use have a huge impact on our body. Be aware of the effects of oil use for cooking. Use cold pressed oil. The safe and healthy oil or coconut oil and Olive Oil. I sometimes use ghee to cook. Ghee is my go to fat.
  18. Say a prayer of gratitude before meals. Prepare your body to receive the food by saying a prayer of blessings and gratitude for all the farmers, transporters, suppliers and all those that were responsible for the food on your plate. Imagine your body getting ready to receive the food that is currently sitting on your plate.
  19. Eat with awareness and chew your food well before swallowing. This allows the saliva in the mouth to do its work. In fact, the mouth is where digestion process begins. If you break down your food in your mouth already, then the remainder of the digestion process improves.
  20. Use a tongue scraper to clean tongue twice a day after brushing. It comes from the tradition of ayurveda. It makes you more thoughtful and authentic in your speech. It helps fight cavities, prevents bad breath, decreases cravings, enhances taste bud activities.
  21. Include food of all colours in each meal or daily or at least over a few days. The different colours represent different phytonutrients. This way you are ensuring that your body is getting all the phytonutrients it needs. As a child you wanted the crayon box with the most colours. You would not have dreamt of drawing a picture in drab neutral.
  22. Detox regularly. This is so important that it could be a topic of its own. Detoxing regularly will help remove the disease causing toxins from the body. You could do some form of detox daily, weekly, monthly, seasonally, and then a bigger detox yearly. Five sample a single weekly detox would be to eat six meals of Khichdi dish in the week and six meals of lightly spiced  steamed vegetables in the week. Learn more about detoxing and find ways that suits you. Examples are dry fast, intermittent fast, juice fast, water only fast, fruit fast etc.
  23. Soak nuts and seeds and dried fruits overnight. By soaking nuts and seeds, you minimise or eliminate the nutritional inhabiters and other toxic substances as they are absorbed into the water. Without the inhibitors and toxic substances, The nutrients of the nuts and seeds are more readily available for absorption. Dried fruits can be drying on the body and soaking them counteract this.
  24. Oh I think that is more than enough. Time to stop.
  25. Always consult your healthcare professional before making any of above changes.

Emergency In India “Decoded”

How Emergency imposed by ex – PM Indira Gandhi in 1975 changed Indian politics forever

Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader and grandson of late PM Indira Gandhi said that Emergency                    was a ‘mistake’ and what happened in that period was ‘wrong’.

On June 26,1975, former President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Proclaimed a national emergency across India, Under the directions of the then Prime minister of India Indira Gandhi- which lasted for 21 months. During this time elections were suspended and civil liberties curbed.

After 46 years, on Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi- Congress leader and grandson of late PM Indira Gandhi, said at an event that the emergency was a mistake and what happened in that period was “Wrong”. Rahul Gandhi also said the emergency during which time constitutional rights and civil liberties were suspended, the media was severely restricted and many opposition leaders were jailed, was “fundamentally different from the current scenario.'”I think that was a mistake. Absolutely, that was a mistake. And my grandmother (Mrs Gandhi) said as much. (But) the congress at no point attempted to capture India’s institutional framework…frankly, it does not even have that capability,” Rahul Gandhi said in a conversation with renowned economist Kaushik Basu.

But what is Emergency and how did it came into effect and how it changed the entire political dynamics of this nation – is something this generation may not know. So here we bring you in simple words on what happened in 1975, which can be easily be termed as the biggest political blunder of independent India.

The Justification for Emergency

The reasons given for the emergency in the country was to control “internal disturbance”, for which the constitutional rights suspended and freedom of speech and the press withdrawn. Former PM Indira Gandhi gave three reasons to justify the extreme step- first, India’s security and democracy was in danger owing to the movement launched by Jayaprakash Narayan.

The second reason cited was that Indira in 1971- In parliamentary elections, Indira Gandhi had defeated Raj Narain from the Rae Bareli constituency, who subsequently had filed a petition in the Allahabad High court accusing Indira Gandhi of electoral malpractices.

January 1974- Students in Gujarat protested against raising prices of food grains and other essential commodities and corruption in the state government. Major opposition parties joined the protests, this led to the imposition of the president’s rule in the state.Demands for fresh elections became intense. subsequently elections were held in Gujarat in June 1975, which the congress lost.

1974- Students in Bihar started a movement to protest against the same issues. Jayaprakash Narayan (JP), who had given up active politics and was involved in social work, lead the movement. This took the issue to a national level.

June 12, 1975- Justice Jagmohanlal Sinha found the Prime Minister guilty of misuse of the government machinery during her election campaign and declared her election null and void and also barred her from contesting an election for the next 6 years. The court, however gave the congress 20 days to find a replacement to Gandhi as PM. Indira Gandhi moved the Supreme Court against the verdict.

June 24, 1975 – The Supreme Court granted her a partial stay on the High court order till her appeal was decided and that she could remain an MP but could not take part in proceedings of the Lok Sabha.

June 25, 1975- JP Narayan led a huge political rally in Delhi’s Ramlila ground where he announced a nationwide Satyagraha for Indira Gandhi’s resignation. The employees of the railways too called for a nationwide strike, led by George Fernandes.

June 25, 1975- This fateful night a state of emergency was declared as a government response to the June 25 Strike. All the powers were concentrated in the hands of the Union Government. The Government restricted the fundamental rights of the citizens during the period. All elections were suspended  and civil liberties curbed.

Most political opponents were imprisoned. Press was censored. All newspapers needed to get prior approval for the articles to be published. Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) and the Jamait-e-Islami were banned. Constitution was amended in an autocratic manner, particularly in the 42nd amendment.

An amendment was made declaring that elections of Prime Minister, President and Vice- President could not be challenged in the court. Sanjay Gandhi, who did not hold any official position at the time gained control over the administration. The period saw the symbolic forced mass sterilisation campaign spearheaded by Sanjay Gandhi.

From his time at the seminary in Qom to hardline president elect, Ebrahim Raise has come a long way

raise will remain chef justice until he takes over from outgoing president Hassan Rouhani

Iran – Judiciary head Ebrahim Raisi has been elected as the next president of Iran at a critical juncture for the country. Who is the conservative leader and what are his positions ?

The 60-year- old Raisi , who enjoys wide backing from the conservative and hardline revolutionary camp and its base , will remain Chief Justice until he takes over from moderate outgoing president Hassan Rouhani in early August as did not resign from his post to run for president.

Like supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei , the leader wears a black turban, which signifies that he is a sayyid – a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad.

Raisi is referred to as a likely successor to the  82-year-old Khamenei when he passes away

Is Family Man Season 2 worth your time???

Family Man Season 2 is every where and the entire google review universe seem to showered by this latest Web Series extravaganza. Among so many so called official tv steam reviews, it becomes very difficult to pick one, most of the tv show reviews seems like copy of the many many other reviews, I wish I would know as how to delete google reviews!

So here’s my take on the series: Our own 007 Shrikant was upset by the killing of an innocent Kashmiri student by his team, so after saving Delhi from a terrorist attack he decided to pursue carrier in an IT firm, he is now spending more time with his family and most importantly he is making more money, he thought this will make him happy, but he was wrong, he would continuously call up his TASK colleague DK and seeks information on his assignments, he was dying to rejoin the TASK.

The biggest strength of the Family Man 1 was the element of humour imbibed in an action packed patriotic spy thriller, the Family Man 1 started from Mumbai then stretched to Delhi and then to Kashmir, It showed a nexus between ISIS and ISI along with Kashmiri terrorists, in the end the series was concluded with a question mark, weather Delhi  survived the terror attack or decimated by it!!

The Family Man Part 2 was more subtle in its approach, it smartly portrays the delicate family life of a spy, how he deals with the dilemma of making a choice between his mission and the safety of his family who inadvertently came between the crossfire, thankfully he was able to save both his mission and his family thwarting the threat to the lives of our Prime minister and his daughter and thankfully it was conclusive.

It also reminded us the horrors and war crimes committed during the Sri Lankan civil war, brilliant performanc by Samantha, she was outstanding as Raji, a focussed rebel, on a subside mission to kill the leaders of India and Srilanka, well researched, perfect portrayal of the dangerous LTTE rebels and how they disregarded there existence for completing there mission, and a glimpse of how people part of our security apparatus defend our country by putting there and there family’s lives on the line…

A gripping series with stellar performance by Manoj, Samantha and Sharib AKA “JK” , watch it

True Meaning of Education

What Does it Mean to Be Educated

Just like a passport is a pre-requisite to travel the world, similarly, a good education is a pre-requisite to lead a meaningful life confidently. Whom, then, do I call educated? The following is the definition of education given by Socrates approximately two thousand years ago.

First, those who manage well the circumstances which they encounter day by day; and those who can judge situations appropriately as they arise and rarely miss the suitable course of action.

Next, those who are honorable in their dealings with all men, bearing easily what is unpleasant or offensive in others and being as reasonable with their associates as is humanly possible.

Furthermore, those who hold their pleasures always under control and are not unduly overcome by their misfortunes, bearing up under them bravely and in a manner worthy of our common nature.

Most important of all, those who are not spoiled by their successes, who do not desert their true selves, but hold their ground steadfastly as wise and sober-minded men, rejoicing no more in the good things that have come to them through chance than in those which through their own nature and intelligence are theirs since birth.

Those who have a character which is in accord, not with one of these things, but with all of them, these are educated— possessed of all the virtues. – Socrates (470-399 B.C)

Write your own Eulogy

One of the happiest countries in the world is Tibet, and the reason for there happiness is a dark ritual, every person of tibet is trained to visualise his/her death twice a day!

Sometimes we are knocked out by an unpleasant and an unplanned experience, the death of a loved one, a serious illness, a financial setback, or extreme adversity can cause us to stand back, look at our lives, and ask ourselves some hard questions: “what’s really important? Why am I doing what I’m doing?

As the great Steve jobs once said

Remembering that you are going to die is the beat way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.”

Follow The dark ritual

The greatest gift of the mankind is the gift of imagination, Picture you’re self going to the funeral of a loved one. Picture yourself driving to the funeral parlour or chapel, parking the car and getting out. As you walk inside the building, you notice the flowers and the soft organ music. You see the faces of friends and family you pass along the way. You feel the shared sorrow of loosing, the joy of having known, that radiates from the hearts of the people there.

As you walk down to the front of the roman look inside the casket, you suddenly come face to face with your self. This is your funeral, three years from today. All these people have come to honour you, to express the feelings of love and appreciation for your life.

As you take a seat and wait for the service to begin, you look at the program in your hand. There are to be four speakers, the first is from your family, immediate and also extended-children, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents who have come from all over the country to attend. The second speaker is one of your friends, someone who can give a sense of what you were as a person. The third speaker is from your work or your  profession, and the forth is from your church or some community organisation where you have been involved in service.

Now think deeply what would you like each of these speakers to say about you and your life? What kind of husband, wife, father, or mother would you like their words to reflect? What kind of son or daughter or cousin? what kind of friend? what kind of working associate?

What character would you like them to have seen in you? what contributions, what achievements of your would you want them to remember ? Look carefully at the people around you. What difference would you like to have made in their lives?
