UNKNOWN MANIBEN & an ungrateful Country

Maniben Patel was Sardar’s only daughter. When only 16 she switched to Khadi and worked in Gandhi Ashram!
When 17 she put all her gold bangles, earrings Gold Wrist Watch and all ornaments & jewelleries in a bundle of cloth and obtaining her Father’s nod, deposited them in Gandhi Ashram, for the cause of freedom.
All the garments Sardar used to wear after 1921 were woven out of the yarn made by Maniben.
Unlike Nehru’s daughter Indira, Maniben was a freedom fighter, who actively participated in the non-cooperation movement.
In 1928, in the Bardoli Satyagraha she helped out Satyagrahis in Camps.
She was arrested and Jailed in 1930 in the Salt Satyagraha!
Thereafter, she was arrested and jailed on several occasions.
Defying ban in Bardauli, arrested in 1932 again re-arrested for defying ban in Kheda and Sentenced to 15 months imprisonment, for arousing people in villages of Rajkot arrested in 1938!
Gandhiji complimented the girl that he had not seen another daughter like Maniben!
Under Gandhiji’s selective disobedience, Maniben was arrested in 1940 and was released from Belgaum jail in May 1941. When she again wanted to court arrest Gandhiji had prevented this frail girl for ill-health!
She got arrested during Quit India 1942 with
Kasturba Gandhi and released in March 1944 and again re-arrested in May 1944 in Bardauli and was sent to Surat Jail & then to Yervada jail!
She didn’t marry and served her father till
Sardar Died in 1950!

Here is a shocking episode relating to Maniben based on various sources, specifically Dr Kurien’s autobiography: ‘I too had a dream’!

Sardar Patel had no bank balance or property!
Even though he had substantial earnings as a very Successful Lawyer, he gave up everything after plunging into the Freedom movement.
He used to say: THOSE IN POLITICS SHOULD NOT HOLD PROPERTY, AND I HOLD NONE!
(Today Everybody in India may think Sardar a Big Fool)

When Sardar died, he kept nothing for his daughter!
With Sardar no more she had to vacate the house!
With no roof over her head and no money
Maniben had to fend for herself!
Obeying Sardar’s parting instruction, Maniben had gone to Nehru to hand over a bag and a book!
Dutifully, she took an appointment with PM Nehru, she handed over the bag and the book to Nehru in person!
The book was an Account Book!
The bag contained rupees Thirty Five Lakhs! (It was 1950)!
After delivering both to Nehru, she waited a while!
Nehru did not thank her!
Nehru didn’t enquire what she would do!
Nehru didn’t ask where she would stay!
Nehru didn’t ask if she had any money on her!
Nehru didn’t ask if she was in need of any assistance or help!
Nehru didn’t ask, if he could do anything for her!
Nehru, not to speak of sympathy, had shown absolutely no interest in her!
For him, after receiving the huge sum of Rupees 35 lakhs Maniben didn’t exist!

Maniben went back to Ahmedabad to stay with a cousin the rest of her life, forgotten by an Ungrateful Country !

Communist Party of China –Celebrating 100 years of oppression ….

There are stark similarities between the Nazis and the Communist party of China, 1) They enslaved there own people, 2) They have (Nazis still exist, AKA White supremacists)  serious superiority complex, 3) They both were cowards.

China is a villainous bully, the only way to face them is by standing up against them, If a country shows slightest sign of weakness, it will surely loos its territory and its people will be butchered.

If a country really want to learn how to confront China, they must learn it from India, the only country in the world which opposed the pet project of “XI” Belt and road project and the way Indians confronted the Chinese on the Himalayas.

World must realise that is bully is actually the weakest one, he will seek vulnerable opponents to oppress, and will backoff if the opponent retaliates.

World must stop this evil ideology and must unite to overturn the vile government of China, must support the democracy to liberate more than a billion human beings.

This can only happen if the people around the world start discarding Chinese Goods, please remember that if you are purchasing any thing that’s made is China, you are supporting slavery and feeding the monster who will eventually come after you.

    Iran – Judiciary head Ebrahim Raisi has been elected as the next president of Iran at a critical juncture for the country. Who is the conservative leader and what are his positions ?

The 60-year- old Raisi , who enjoys wide backing from the conservative and hardline revolutionary camp and its base , will remain Chief Justice until he takes over from moderate outgoing president Hassan Rouhani in early August as did not resign from his post to run for president.

Like supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei , the leader wears a black turban, which signifies that he is a sayyid – a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad.

Raisi is referred to as a likely successor to the  82-year-old Khamenei when he passes away

 

Economics of Convenience

Economic reforms a term once considered a game changer for the country is now reduced to a rhetoric, used by all the political parties for there advantage, to win the educated middle-class electorate and then to disown it, during the tenure of the Non Gandhi congress prime minister P.V Narasimha Rao, India transformed it self by breaking the bondages of the license Raj, led by the legendary finance minister Manmohan Singh, India opened its doors to the world.

With the demographic advantage, a large English speaking intelligent population, India started evolving as the software and BPO HUB for the world, but the real differentiator was the youth of the country, ambitious and sharp, they quickly covered the technological gap of decades in a couple of years and started leading in the software space.

But this remained an isolated bright spot in the otherwise measurable economic track record of the country, the political class of the country which never had any ambition to really transform the country, to utilise its wast natural and human resources, they seriously lack strategic thinking.

In India economic policies are made to appease the electorate, the legendary election slogan given by the candidate Modi which was “Achhe Din Ayenge” or great time to come, is a spectacular example of the hypocrisy as the economy is in a tailspin since Modi became the PM.

I recently read an article in Bloomberg titled “Pakora or Toyota” which clearly depicts the psych of the Indian policy makers, the cars are taxed @ 50%, equivalent to tobacco and alcohol, in the last one week Toyota announced halt in Indian investment and Harley Davidson decided to wind up.

Why dose the policy makers make such illogical policies in the first place? well the answer lies in the Voting pattern, about 40% of the total electorate always give the elections a miss, the rest 60% are the poorest of the poor, illetrate and some section of the middle class populations, 90% of the voters decide there votes on the basis of Cast, religion and freebies they will get if they vote for a particular party.

If you follow the election manifesto of the political parties, none would give structural reforms (again a cliche’) any space in it, they will throw a buffet of freebies, including Free 2 Wheelers, Free Laptops, One of the national parties announced that if they won the elections, they will give every unemployed men and women Rs.7000 (10$) a month, now preposterous as it was, thankfully voters were matured enough to call the bluff and the economy was saved.

One thing that I know for sure is the fact that Indians are very enterprising and the 2.5 trillion economy was built not because of the leaders but despite them. The current state of politics which takes from the competent, hard working and aspirational gives to the incompetent and callous, is not sustainable.

But aren’t the aspirational middle class also equally guilty for the currant state of the politics as they just don’t vote and leave there future in the hands of the goons (As many as 50% of legislatures or the member of parliament have serious criminal cases pending against them).

We often call politics a gutter or a Sewage, but even a garden of Roses, if neglected will turn into a barren and futile piece of land, just imagine what’s at stake if we choose to ignore our country and keep handing it over to the criminals and corrupt.

 

The Disrupter

No one in the history of Free India has disrupted the lives of the billion people so much as the common man Modi has, and I really mean disrupted, Demonetisation ! Ill prepared and poorly executed GST which became existential threat for the small traders who didn’t understood this complex tax regime, and when we thought the worst is over and may be he will now focus on the economy came the near death Blow to the economy “The Lockdown”.

Modi has proved to be a leader who thinks from his guts, who doesn’t think or consults before arriving at a decision, without contemplating about the repercussion on the poor and the entire population of the country. As a common man I am deeply disappointed with what he has done, and as a matter of fact the way he has led the country, is absolutely bewildering.

On the front of corruption again, one of The agendas that won Modi both the terms, for me he scored a big fat disappointing 0, absolutely no delivery, for example the Poster boy of debauchery, Flamboyance and corruption Mr.Vijay Mallaya, he would appear in the prime time News shows whenever there are elections in country or in any important state, and would conspicuously disappear once the elections are over.

In these 7 years I have never seen any BJP leader getting convected or even being investigated by any central agency for corruption, I believe the organised corruption in the country has increased exponentially under his watch.

The country is silent and so is the opposition, media my God! is reduced to a circus busy in capturing the mysterious death of the Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, try watching Arnab Goswami on the Republic channel, its such a sad state of affairs almost unfortunate that no one is speaking out when we have lost jobs in crores, our economy is in tatters, and the poor are getting poorer, something is very wrong about the current scene of politics, it seems as if there is no opposition left in the country.

Media the fourth pillar of the democracy, is busy diverting the attention of the people away from the real issues, I never saw this happening ever before, media’s job is to questing the government, but instead they are making all the efforts in keeping the people distracted from the real issues.

The disruption is so widespread that I see my country coming at a tipping point, a point of no return and what amuses me that the common man still feel that the current leadership in taking the country in the right direction, its almost as if we are living in a Dystopian society and every one is trying to put the current mess under the carpet!

No one in India doubts Modi’s intentions but the forget the old saying that the Road to hell is paved with good intentions.

 

Make America Great Again!!!!

This was the slogan first used by Ronald Reagan in the year 1980, it was slightly different though, it was “Let’s make America Great again”.Trump modified it to “Make America Great Again” (often abbreviated as MAGA) the most resonant slogan in the history of American politics, the 45th president of the USA Donald Trump coined it in his election campaign.

The Idea of America, was far greater than the slogan by a conman, the deception he created, sowed the seeds of bigotry and divided the country in the name of Race and colour and became the President of the USA. Apart from race he also promise Jobs and prosperity to the people of America, and painted a grim picture of the economy.

He epitomised the capitalist American, the tycoon who is so smart that he will single handedly bring the glory days of America back and make the average rich and wealthy, The art of the deal, the master sales man who sold the fallacy to the people and became the president.

Americans are still paying the prise of their choice, first the Thug tried to steel the legacy of the previous presidents tried to portray that whatever was done by them was so wrong and he will fix it.

His response to the COVID pandemic was absolute evil, he allowed two hundred thousand Americans die of a pandemic which could have been easily contained, sheer incompetence more then arrogance and above all his heart is sheer cold, he never showed any remorse on the deaths of his innocent country men.

And now as the elections are around the corner all he has got to offer his voters is Bigotry, Racism, Sexism and discrimination, he wants to steel the elections once again by showing the colour of his skin and trying to sell the White supremacist ideology.

Power at all cost even if it means the destruction of the very foundation on which the nation is built, and all it takes by the clown is to invoke the race and slither the thrown again, to Make America Great Again!!!
